Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions govern access to and use of Urban Index. By using the site, creating an account, or purchasing a report, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Last updated: April 2026.
1. Agreement
These terms form a binding agreement between you and the operator of Urban Index. Additional terms may apply to specific features (for example payment processor terms when you check out). If there is a conflict, these terms govern your use of our site unless the other terms expressly override them for a discrete feature.
2. The service
Urban Index provides indicative scores, maps, summaries, and optional paid reports based on automated analysis of address-level queries and third-party data. Outputs are provided for general information and comparison only.
Not professional advice: Nothing on Urban Index is property, planning, engineering, legal, financial, insurance, or safety advice. You must obtain your own professional advice and verify information with official sources before relying on it for decisions.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must provide accurate information when using authentication or payment flows. You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or pose risk to the service or other users.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service in breach of law or third-party rights;
- attempt to probe, scan, or circumvent technical or billing controls (including paywalls);
- overload, disrupt, or automate access in a way that impairs stability (except public APIs we expressly offer);
- reverse engineer or scrape the service to replicate our proprietary scoring or product except as permitted by law; or
- misrepresent affiliation with Urban Index or misuse our branding.
5. Fees, payments, and delivery
Paid reports or unlocks are offered at the prices shown at checkout. Payments are processed by third-party providers (for example Stripe or Lemon Squeezy). You authorise us and our providers to charge applicable fees. Taxes may be added as required by law.
Delivery is digital (access to generate or download the relevant output). If access fails after a successful payment, contact us with transaction details; we will work with you in good faith to resolve technical issues attributable to our service.
Refunds: Refund rights depend on applicable consumer law and the policies of the payment processor. Nothing in these terms excludes guarantees you cannot contract out of under the Australian Consumer Law.
6. Intellectual property
The site, branding, software, scoring methodology (except where based on public methods or open data), layouts, and report templates are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable licence to use outputs for personal or internal business research. You may not resell, redistribute, or publicly republish bulk outputs or systematically harvest our data without written consent.
7. Third-party data and links
Results may incorporate or reference data from mapping platforms, transit feeds, places providers, and environmental datasets. Accuracy, coverage, and licensing are controlled by those sources and may change. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience only.
8. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, error-free outputs, or fitness for a particular purpose. Scores may change when methodology or data updates.
- Flood and environmental risk information is indicative and may omit local factors, updated engineering works, or future climate scenarios.
- Transit and places may be incomplete outside optimised regions or when upstream feeds are unavailable.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect, consequential, special, or punitive loss, and for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or data arising from use of the service or reliance on outputs.
Australian Consumer Law: Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund for a major failure and compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure is not a major failure. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability arising out of these terms or the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) AUD $100 and (b) the fees you paid to us in that period for the specific product giving rise to the claim — except where prohibited by law.
10. Indemnity
You indemnify us against claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the service, breach of these terms, or infringement of third-party rights, except to the extent caused by our negligence or breach of law.
11. Suspension and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with or without notice where reasonable. We may update these terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms where permitted by law.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of courts with competent subject-matter jurisdiction in Australia.
